bikesMay 29, 2010...that's when I departed from Boise for a job related trip to Holland.  Had breakfast at IHOP with the family, including Daniel-bro.  On the way to the airport, Jojo and Timo sang the song 'You Are My Sunshine' of their version...You Are My Mommy.

You are my mommy, my only mommy...You make me happy when skies are grey...You never know dear, how much I love you....Please don't take my mommy away.

What a tough feeling to leave.  I miss them so much.

First week is almost over.  Everything has been great so far.  Work is great, get to be involved in the workcenter (factory) of how they build the part of the machine I work on.  People in the group are nice.  All of them are Dutch, no American.  Oh, there is one guy from Germany.  He is doing the same thing I do; supporting the workcenter.  Getting better in remember their names; Twan, Dennis, Edwin, Kim, Steven, Bregen, Manno, Ingemar aka Sali, Unal, Yazdan, Jan-Willem, Wilfred, Tim, Bernie.

Work starts 0700, koffie break 0900, lunch 1130, koffie break 1400, home 1630.  I work Monday-Friday.  It takes about 15 minutes to get to work. Thanks to GPS, it helps me find my destinations.

streetVisited 2 grocery stores; Em-Te by ASML, and Jan Linders by the apartment.  Bought some breads, cheese, butter, oil, salt/peppers, garlic powder, eggs, potato chips, Indonesian instant fried rice, waffle snack, banana, OJ, chocolate milk, Lipton lemon green tea, sausages, krokettes, sambal oelek, sliced ham, and marinated pork chops.

Today, visited open fresh market by the Demmel canal.  Derek & I finally found the place.  Bought some potatoes, lettuce, tomatoes, fresh ginger, lemon, and hazelnut spread.  We had lunch at Chinese/Indonesian rice bowl place.  I ordered Babi Kecap with rice, shu-mai, and a can of coke for 7.50 euros.  It was a lot of food..only ate half of it.  Finished the other half for dinner.  We visited about 5 bike stores, looking for used bikes.  Also had mocca ice cream for 1 euro.

Tomorrow, I am going to Ronald's house.  He is someone I contacted through Marktplaats.nl website (similar like ebay) who sells a used bike - gebruikten fietsen - that might be good for me while I am here.  Lots of people here ride bikes everywhere.  Parking is limited and expensive here.  Plus it is easier and faster sometimes.  We'll see if I get to ride the bike home or not.

Calling home is also hard.  The time difference makes the window for live conversation tough.  Calling early morning here is the ideal time; just right before the boys go to bed.  It's not bad to finally settling/adapting with the new schedules.  Thanks to 0900 koffie break...it wakes me up every morning.

It seems like 4 months is a very long time.  I hope they get to come here, at least my Babe, soon.  Lonely here....

Will make plans to visit Poetri in UK and some friends here in Holland.  Oh, the weather here is hot and humid.  It was raining when I just arrived but sunny since Wednesday until today.  Pictures are online at http://enggaphoto.zenfolio.com/p1035915725

Hope you guys are having a nice weather too!
